Author and journalist Wanda Lloyd retired as executive editor of the Montgomery (AL) Advertiser. She has been an editor at seven daily newspapers, including The Washington Post and USA Today. She served as Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at Savannah State University. She is the founding executive director of the Freedom Forum Diversity Institute at Vanderbilt University. Lloyd transformed her career from being a top newspaper editor to becoming a non-fiction author. Her memoir, Coming Full Circle: From Jim Crow to Journalism was published in 2020. She is also co-editor/essayist of Meeting at the Table: African American Women Write on Race, Culture and Community, also published in 2020. in 2025 she was inducted into the UNCF Hall of Honor and the Spelman College alumnae Hall of Fame. In 2019 she was inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame.
