Claire Nelson, PhD is chief futurist of The Futures Forum, a research and education practice specializing in bringing the power of strategic foresight and the discipline of sustainability engineering to create preferred futures. She serves on the board of the World Futures Studies Federation. She is Editor-At-Large of Human Futures magazine. Her book, SMART Futures for a Flourishing World, guides readers on a journey to preferred futures with stories that illuminate paths of hope.
Dr. Nelson invoked change at the Inter-American Development Bank where she pioneered the development of their equity agenda by continually showcasing the issues of African descendants spanning 30 years. She was honored with the Bank’s Ortiz Mena Award.
Dr. Nelson is recognized a s the architect of the Campaign for National Caribbean American Heritage Month. She holds a Doctorate in Engineering Management from George Washington University. She is listed in Forbes’ Top 50 Female Futurists.
