Septima Clark, heralded as “Mother of the Movement,” was a fixture in southern grassroots organization and literary activism. In efforts to buck racist Jim Crow era voting obstacles, Clark championed workshops to teach Black people the skills they needed to pass voter registration tests. The documentary They Say I’m Your Teacher highlights the efforts and community-building work of this moment in history and features archival footage of Ms. Clark herself
