Join us, in partnership with DC Public Library, to mark International Women’s Day during an afternoon honoring Black women whose voices continue to shape culture, memory, and change!

Authors, Activists, Artists Speak! Writing Our Story, Righting Our History will take place on Sunday, March 8th at MLK Library in Washington, DC, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Doors open at 1:00pm. A full run of show and activities begin promptly.

Join an enlightening discussion with Tiffany D. Cross and Joy D. Calloway. 
Tiffany D. Cross -- journalist, author and speaker – has spent more than 25 years navigating politics, media, labor, racial justice, and private sector issues. She is the author of the forthcoming book, Love, Me: A Letter to Black Women in a Toxic Country, Career, and Relationship. Tiffany previously hosted The Cross Connection on MSNBC. She is also a former co-host of iHeart Media’s Native Land Pod, which debuted in 2024 on Apple. The weekly show, dedicated to news and culture, was the top downloaded podcast across all categories.
Joy D. Calloway is President & CEO of Black Women’s Health Imperative, the only national nonprofit dedicated to advancing health equity for Black women and girls. A transformational leader with three decades of experience, she is recognized for implementing institutional change. Prior to joining BWHI, she served as executive director of the National Medical Association and as Interim President & CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York. Calloway is a sought-after speaker on mental health, nonprofit leadership and governance.

    A celebration of Herstory then, now and always
  • MLK Library Freedom & Resistance Exhibition:
    Inspired by 1619 Creator Nikole Hannah-Jones, shown only at the King Library through March 15, this exhibit challenges and imagines “The Idea of America” from a visual experience by young Washington, DC artists.
