Wanda Lloyd is an editor, author, and essayist. She is the founding executive director of the Freedom Forum Diversity Institute at Vanderbilt University.

She served as Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at Savannah State University

Lloyd transformed her career from being a top newspaper editor to becoming a non-fiction author. She wrote her memoir, Coming Full Circle from Jim Crow to Journalism, and was co-editor/essayist of Meeting at the Table: African-American Women Write on Race, Culture and Community, both published in 2020.

As a newspaper editor for more than four decades, Lloyd became a media diversity advocate and trainer. She retired from daily journalism after eight years as executive editor of the Montgomery Advertiser. In 2019, Lloyd was inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame. Spelman College, her alma mater, awarded Lloyd the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters
